blogging like a boss

Now, before I start, I would just like to say that I do have another blog besides this one, and on this particular blog, I'm writing about the dangers of blogging.

BLOGGING

Blogging is a term used by everyone who has a blog, obviously. It’s your own page, and you can do whatever you want with it. You can post pictures, you can post depressing/happy music and you can vent out everything out of your system. Although blogging might be helpful to many people, it’s also quite dangerous.

One of the biggest dangers about having a blog would be cyberstalking. It’s a pretty new thing that allows anonymous stalkers to stalk their prey. When someone is blogging, they would usually put information about themselves. They can put some of their dislikes and likes, their pictures, and in some cases, where they live. There are ways to protect yourself though:

  • When parents tell children, young adolescents and teenagers not put up any information, a lot of the parents don’t take this warning too seriously. They should also use this warning to protect themselves.
  • Dr. Rachel O’Connell, a psychiatrist, says that “This is just a paedophile’s dream because you have children uploading pictures, giving out details of their everyday life because it’s an online journal” (BBC News) . To protect ourselves, we should avoid uploading pictures, because whatever goes on the internet stays on the internet.
  • If you don’t want anyone to read what you’re writing, don’t post it. Or post it anonymously. Make a blog, but don’t give out any information about yourself, that way, when you’re venting out your feelings, no one will know it’s you.
  •  Avoid using real information about yourself. If anyone asks questions about where you live, don’t answer them, and if you’re foolish enough to answer them, give out a wrong address, one that leads to the middle of nowhere.
·
Well, I hope these tips help you when you’re writing a blog. Remember; try not to post anything about yourself. The internet is timeless.

The Dangers about Blogging

Honestly if it wasn't for English class I probably would've never blogged in my life. I don't find it necessary to vent over the internet for everyone to see. But like you said presenting yourself as 'anonymous' would be the smartest decision to take. In all of your blogs you're giving tips on how to avoid the dangers of the internet and I find that to be really good, looking forward to your next one.

Another danger about blogging (especially on Tumblr): it's addicting! I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, haha. I like this blog post though, because a lot of people don't realize how dangerous blogging can really be. I have a personal blog and I guarantee if someone (other than you, Batoul) came across it, they wouldn't have the slightest clue that it's mine. I really think that's the way it should be!

Thanks Sabah :)
And yes, kailey, Tumblr is really addictive, but I love it!

I agree with Kailey blogging (Tumblr) is addictive! Whenever I am bored I end up on Tumblr, thanks a lot Batoul! ;) In my opinion if you don`t want something on the Internet you shouldn't post it in the first place even anonymously because people still can track you and find your identity. Some people have no lives and spend there day stalking people on the Internet even if you have little to no information on the Internet they still can find you.

Same here Sabah i would of never blogged if it wasdint mandatory by Mr K-Dog. and I don't find cyberstalking new, its pretty old ever since the social networks has arrived like myspace.

If people are dumb enough to put personal information in their blog, with their name and everything, well, sucks for them. I mean, it's ridiculous that people stalk others, but it happens, and we all have to protect ourselves!

I really liked your Blogging like a boss picture. I love tumblr, but this is creepy. Like people need live if they cyberstalk people.

I'm going to disagree with every girl who posted that they enjoy Tumblr. I've heard so much about it so I've looked at a few people's accounts, it's incredibly boring and pointless. You see a picture you like so you reblog it, then your friend reblogs what you did and you see it again! I get it, some stuff is pretty funny, but they have other websites for that. You guys don't need to look at the same pictures over and over again!

The whole "this is just a pedophiles dream" thing is really creepy. That being said, children shouldn't be posting pictures of themselves to begin with and everyone warns them, so in essence, that's sort of their own fault...Their parents should teach them better? Maybe it's just them.
